» Date Rape Temptress Jailed

A woman dubbed the "Date Rape Temptress" by Britain's tabloid press was jailed for five years yesterday after being found guilty of drugging her male victims with Rohypnol before relieving them of their valuables.

In the first case of its kind in Britain, Selina Hakki, 37, was convicted of using the powerful sedative on two men in order to steal property worth more than £20,000.

Her modus operandi was simple: she trawled London's expensive West End bars for men who would invite her back to their homes. She then drugged and robbed them.

Banker Volker Vogler, 38, told Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court he had invited Hakki to his Knightsbridge flat, where he poured two glasses of wine before visiting the bathroom.

"I then sat next to her on the sofa, and we toasted. I remember she said, 'Why don't you drink more, why don't you finish it up?'

"She was drinking just a little. I didn't notice any unusual taste."

By this time, he said, Hakki had removed some of her clothes and suggested he go to the bedroom. "I remember I got up, walked to the bedroom, and that is the last thing I recall," he said.

The next morning Hakki had vanished with £100 in cash, a £100 pair of black Versace jeans, a Versace jumper, three pairs of shoes and an £850 Omega watch.

Film director Alex Jovy, 34, who lives in the trendy London suburb of Notting Hill, told the court he was relieved of a £5,000 Rolex watch, a Cartier clock, video camera, a bottle of champagne and some aftershave.

Police were able to match DNA from glasses in the two men's homes with cigarette butts at Hakki's east London flat. They also found a haul of apparently stolen goods.

London detectives said yesterday they believed at least four other men may have been robbed by Hakki but were too embarrassed to come forward.
