» EastEnders star: I was drug raped

Police are investigating the alleged drug rape of former EastEnders star.

The actress, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claims the attack took place after she was unwittingly drugged while on a night out with friends in Lambeth, South London.

The victim drank only two vodkas, but as the night progressed she became more and more disorientated. It was then that her attacker made his move. Two days later, on November 20, 2002, the actress who is in her thirties, reported the rape to the Metropolitan Police.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the incident had been reported and said ‘A man in his thirties was arrested in early June and is bailed to return in early July. The investigation remains open and the inquiries continue.’
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the victim backed attempts to highlight the issue of drug rape.
She said, ‘I do believe that this is an important issue which people need to be aware of.’
Only seven men have ever been convicted of drug-assisted rape.
