» Device to stop Spiking (the story of SafeFlo)
A pair of inventors from Liverpool have designed a simple device which could save revelers from the dangers of spiked drinks.
Brothers Paddy & Michael Shea, from Vauxhall in Liverpool, have come up with a new bottle top called SafeFlo.
The cap fits on to bottles and allows people to drink safely and hygienically, but prevents substance being dropped into the bottle.
They are now in talks with big brewers, which could see the SafeFlo in pubs and clubs at home and abroad.
Paddy, 57, said: "As a former publican, I'm all too aware of the unhealthy aspects of drinking from bottles,
"But irrespective of this, there needs to be a cultural change in the way people consume their drink.
"Spiking is becoming all too familiar to doctors who are regularly treating people suffering from traumatic effects of what can be a devastating experience."
